Test 1 grades are in.

There was about a 3 point curve added to the data.
TEST1RAW is the raw number of items correct.
TEST1PCT is the percentage of items correct - take your number correct, divide by 40, and multiply the result by 100.
TEST1ADJ is your CURVED or ADJUSTED SCORE. It is what will be used in the final grades. Basically, it takes your standardized score, or z-score, and adds it to 80.
To insure that the different test versions were "fair" we compared the means of the four different versions. They were all quite close to one another and statistical tests showed the different versions were equivalent.
When I have to curve a test, I shoot for having about half be As and Bs, and about half be below that. The grade distribution, after adjustments, appears immediately below:
A RANGE 14 B RANGE 38 C RANGE 34 D/F RANGE 13
Here are the descriptive statistics about the test
N Minimum Maximum Mean Std. Deviation TEST1RAW 99 21 38 30.71 3.569 TEST1PCT 99 52.50 95.00 76.7677 8.92323 TEST1ADJ 99 55.50 98.00 79.7677 8.92323 Valid N (listwise) 99
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS about your individual test, or individual items, please see Ms. Garcia or me during regular office hours, or, if those are inconvenient, make an appointment and we will chat.
