(subject to possible revisions based on in-class announcements)
Your grade will be based in the following

15%

 Average grade on the best (N-1) out of N quizzes. These will always be on WEDNESDAY. There may be as few as four or as many as 7. I will drop your LOWEST grade before taking the average. A missed quiz counts as a zero. Please see grading policies and makeup policies - there will be no makeups offered without VERY SUBSTANTIAL documentation.

70%

Average grade on ALL LAB assignments. There may be as few as four or as many as eight (originally said 6). You need to turn in ALL of these to get a passing grade in this course

5%

Participation. Some days in class I will ask you to turn something in with your name on it. If you are present and turn something in every time we do this you get all these points. Based on past semesters that may occur as few as four times or as many as ten.

FINAL PAPER OR FINAL EXAM
You will be eligible (but do not have) to complete a short final paper rather than a final exam IF BOTH YOUR QUIZ AVERAGE AND LAB PAPER AVERAGES ARE B- OR HIGHER as of a date in late March or early April that will be announced. Details to follow. The final exam will take place during the final exam period

NOTE. In order for me to issue you a passing grade for this course you must at least:
* complete all lab assignments
* complete all but one of the quizzes
* take the final exam or turn in a final paper

NOTE: See grading policies for guidelines on late and missed exams, late papers, and how not to lose points with your papers.
