PURPOSE

Now that you have presented your results it is time to write it up .....
This paper incorporates the earlier Paper 3, and adds results and discussion. It is the final paper on your media violence project. It has the following sections:

• Statement of purpose. What were you trying to find out and why. You want at least one specific reference to Bok. Reference to another outside source would be good. Give at least two specific questions you will seek to answer.
  

• Sampling plan - describe in detail how you drew your probability sample. Many of you have a lot of work to do in this area...
  
• Sample actually drawn - describe how if in any particular ways the sample you actually drew was different from what was planned
  
• Dependent variables - describe in specific terms the dependent variables you will investigate - do not describe all of them; at least two, and no more than five.
  
•  To describe the dependent variables, I want a table showing the exact wording of each dependent variable, including the response categories, if applicable. Accompanying the table will be text describing what you are trying to get at with each variable. You want to attach a copy of the data recording sheet you used.
  
• Describe specific results. How many you describe will depend on how you do the paper. I would like a tabular of graphic presentation of each result.
  
• Discussion. Note at least a couple of limitations of your paper. Describe the implications of your results for theory and policy.

NOTE: Your group can choose either to submit ONE paper, or different individuals within the group can submit different sections. If you choose the latter path YOU MUST: have at the top of each page the SSNs of the responsible students; submit only ONE package for group; in other words, you must assemble the contributions from the different persons in each group into one group package before you turn it in to me. If you choose the former path YOU MUST: be sure that the SSNs of ALL contributing group members are on the top of each page; and attach a last page that has the statement "We the undersigned have each contributed substantially to this paper" and is SIGNED underneath by each of the contributors.

NOTE. Because we have dropped the second in-class writing exercise, papers 3 (preliminary), 4 (poster) and 5 (final) will be expanded to count for an additional 10% of the final grade. If you have any concerns about this please email be at your earliest convenience.

NOTE. I may be asking some individuals or groups to turn in original data and coding sheets; I will let you know.

NOTE: I will need ALL groups, if they have not already done so (see below), to upload their final spss files before they turn their papers in.
