Paper 3 assignment
DUE: 11/12/99 by 3:00 pm
PURPOSE.
    The purpose of this paper is for you to report on the following aspects of your media violence project:

• sampling plan
  

• sample actually drawn
  
• dependent variables
  
• description of the questions you will try and answer in your analysis plan

WHAT I WANT
    To describe the sampling plan I want a text description, and a figure explaining what was to happen. A flow chart for the sampling plan would be nice. This should be professional looking, not hand-drawn. You will be using this later in your poster session presentation. If you know MS Word, it can do org charts for this.
    To describe the sample results, I want text and at least one data table. The sample results will report on what data were (remember - data ARE plural) collected. You are not analyzing yet, but you will have your data in hand. Again, data table should be professional.
    To describe the dependent variables, I want a table showing the exact wording of each dependent variable, including the response categories, if applicable. Accompanying the table will be text describing what you are trying to get at with each variable. You want to attach a copy of the data recording sheet you used.
   To describe the analysis: tell me what questions you want to answer, and how you will get there. Do not go on and on. Just give me three to four questions, and suggestions for analyzing. I will weight this section of the paper the least but I want you to at least have begun thinking about these things.

SOME SPECIAL FEATURES

• You will be allowed to revise this later; grade for later version if improved may substitute for earlier grade, but there will be a limit on how much the grade may improve. It can go up no more than one full letter grade. So put some effort in here, but don't go crazy.
  

• Your group can choose either to submit ONE paper, or different individuals within the group can submit different sections. If you choose the latter path YOU MUST: have at the top of each page the SSNs of the responsible students; submit only ONE package for group; in other words, you must assemble the contributions from the different persons in each group into one group package before you turn it in to me. If you choose the former path YOU MUST: be sure that the SSNs of ALL contributing group members are on the top of each page; and attach a last page that has the statement "We the undersigned have each contributed substantially to this paper" and is SIGNED underneath by each of the contributors.
  
• I WILL give students feedback on specific features on drafts of their paper before you turn it in. I will be available the following times for groups to come by and talk to me.
