Material: On 11/17/99 you will watch an old HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS video. As always with HOMICIDE, race, race relations, and related issues are woven into the episode at several levels. After watching the video, however, I would like you to focus on the homeowner who shoots the exchange student. The homeowner is the cousin of Tim Bayliss, the white police officer, and partner to Frank Pembleton, the African-American officer who interrogates the shooter.

Asignment: What I want you to tell me about, in no more than one page, typed, double-spaced, is what individual characteristics of the shooter reflect the individual-level characteristics of people with aggressive tendencies that we have been discussing in class. In much of our discussion, and in the people interviewed in the ARMED ROBBER book, we have been discussing individuals from lower socioeconomic groups. Here, however, we are dealing with the middle class. Can we still see some of the same individual-level features that we have been discussing for lower income individuals?

Be specific about the feature you are describing. Describe at least one place in the episode where they talk about this issue, or where you see evidence of it.

Talk about no more than two individual level characteristics.
