RE: Events

Yesterday we began a review of the nonlinear hierarchical models. If you missed class, I have posted a word perfect file on the web site, under memos. You may want to retrieve the file and review it. We will continue our discussion of nonlinear models next week. In preparation therefore, you also want to read the Rountree and Land article which is available as a pdf file online through the course page.

In class we discussed current priorities. I am reviewing your first drafts of your first sections. I have available the following times

3/28 9:30
3/28 12:30
3/28 3:00
3/28 3:30
3/28 4:00
3/28 4:30

3/30 9:30
3/30 12:00
3/30 12:30
3/30 1:00
3/30 1:30
3/30 2:00
3/30 2:30

when I could meeet with you to discuss these paper drafts. Please email me back with when you want to meet. After we have

met you should start on the next section of your paper, which is building the level 2 model. At the most you can have six

variables at level 2. Remember, you want to be sure to first include the 3 city dummies, then your key variable at level 2. And

go on from there.

The last piece of your paper you will be working on is the residual analysis.

Although your paper is your first priority, I also want you writing in response to questions about the readings. Questions are

posted for the Sampson ARS article, and the Rountree and Land article. So you want to keep perking along with getting those

in to me.

Agenda for next class:

- interpret a nonlinear (bernoulli) Level 1model generated from 9925 data.

- review Rountree and Land

- Review Sampson ASR

- review a multilevel model generated from class data, and continue the discussion about simultaneous level 1 and level 2
