DESCRIPTION OF DATA FILES YOU WILL BE RECEIVING |
|
NORMAL SECONDARY ANALYSIS goes like this. You call up ICPSR at the University of Michigan;
they maintain a
data archive where you can get lots of different data sets to analyze. The url is: http://www.icpsr.umich.edu .
When you download a data file from them you need to run the SPSS syntax
file in order to generate the SPSS data file. This is a lot of work. I am going to be making this a lot easier for you. I am going to give you ALREADY CONSTRUCTED SPSS data files. There are some conditions you will need to agree to in order to access these data. I am going to ask you to sign a data resource sharing agreement. You will be getting these files on CD, probably next week. In addition, I will put the basic documentation on the website as well Below are listed the CODEBOOKS and DOCUMENTATION FILES for the PAS/PLS2003 data files. These are PDF files. You will find these ON YOUR CD under DOCUMENTATION. (THERE ARE NO HYPERLINKS TO THE FILES YOU SEE) PAS_PLS_QUESTIONNAIRE_20030904.PDF Actual questionnaire: Review carefully PAS_PLS_2003_Field_Report.pdf Report on sampling and surveying: Review carefully PAS_PLS_2003_MISSING_REPORT.pdf Report on treatment of missing data: " dote_dissertation_philadelphia_weighting.pdf How weighting was done for Philly cases: " pas_pls_2003_survey_indices_report.pdf Items in indices: " pas_pls_2003_weighting_state_msa.pdf Weighting for state and MSA cases: FYI pas_pls_state_report_20041215.pdf [DO NOT PRINT - HUGE] State-level variation: several outcomes: FYI |
